Your getaway drivers Steve & Anthea

Steve and Anthea know the drill – smooth journeys, great company, and everything running like clockwork. They're experts at turning a good holiday into a great one!

- How many years have you been coach driving?
  Steve: I've been coach driving since 2016.
  Anthea: I started back in 2004, 21 years ago. Saying that makes me feel old!
- How many years have you been driving with our company?
  Steve: I've been with Leger as a full-time driver for 4 years.
  Anthea: I started touring for Leger in 2008 and did two years European touring before that.
- How many years have you been driving together as a team? We have been together now for four years and driving about three and a half of those.
- Does your coach have a name? Our coach is called Lulu (when she behaves!). Her Sunday name is Lulubell.
- What inspired you to become a coach driver?
  Steve: Like most drivers, it wasn't a career choice. I just fell into it and then I fell in love with it.
  Anthea: I’m a professional photographer by trade, but I moved to the south coast in July 2004 and wanted a new challenge. So, I decided to take my PSV test and never looked back!
- When you're not on the road, how do you like to spend your time?
  Steve: I love to cook and I'm a qualified chef. I also love to scuba dive. I learned to do that a couple of years ago whilst on holiday with my wife. I like to relax at home and watch the older comedies. When I get chance, I also watch the rugby, being an ex-player too.
  Anthea: When I do get down time, I like to spend it painting and drawing in my craft room. Also love to be out with my camera and seeing friends. It's just nice to enjoy time at home.
- What is your favourite country, destination, or tour you've driven to? We do enjoy Italy and Germany. Trying to pick a favourite tour is an impossible task.
- What makes it your top choice? Germany’s Baltic Coast is beautiful and very underrated for tourism too, which is great if you're wanting a quieter tour to somewhere different.
- What's your favourite memory from a past tour? Sitting with a great group of friends and passengers at the Hotel Sonnschein on the 12-day Little Trains of Austria tour. We were all enjoying a day off and just having a good laugh. Watching passengers enjoying their holiday is our favourite part of this job.
- Do you have any personal touches that make your coach feel welcoming? Steve: We have thank you cards from previous passengers on display above the driver and crew seats, and our teddies at various points throughout our coach. Plus, there is a veterans sticker from my time serving in the British army.
  Anthea: Well, we do have a little family of teddies that travel with us. Some of them have been gifted to us by passengers. They all have names and stories. At Christmas time, we also decorate our coach. We like to go down the slightly retro route with those.
- If you could provide a top travel tip for our passengers, what would that be?
  Steve: Always try to bring a travel pillow or something comfortable to travel in. Check the travel plugs that you need for the countries your travelling through.
  Anthea: Make sure you have the right type of travel plug and always bring your camera with you. Photos make such great memories and, with all the printing apps these days, you can make wonderful photo walls back home.
- Is there anything else you would like to share with us about the tours you do?
  Steve: Be prepared to have lots of banter and fun if you travel with us!
  Anthea: Every tour we do is a new adventure and we treat it that way.
